SIGN LANGUAGE IMMERSION PROGRAM 2010
APSEA is pleased to offer the Tenth Annual Sign Language Immersion Program. The program involves all levels of signers from beginner to advanced. Participants will be divided into appropriate groups during the week. Space is limited to 50 participants. If you would like to attend, please register before June 18. Date: Monday, August 9 - Friday, August 13, 2010 Location: APSEA Centre, 5940 South Street, Halifax Time: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm daily Instructors: Teacher teams will be coordinated by Betty MacDonald with many presenters involved. Topics: There will be different topics and instructors each day.
Topics include:
- Fingerspelling and Numbers
- Verb Directionality
- ASL Storytelling
Fee: No cost for APSEA staff
$200 for non-APSEA staff
Payment must be received by the registration deadline of June 18 in order to confirm placement in the program.Accommodations: No cost for APSEA staff
$100 for non-APSEA staff (APSEA staff will be given preference for accommodations until June 18).
Apartments in the APSEA residence consist of four bedrooms with a large living room and kitchen area. Kitchens are equipped with a fridge, stove, toaster, kettle, dishes, etc. In addition, there are laundry facilities on each floor. Accommodations at the APSEA Centre will be accessible beginning at 6 pm on Sunday, August 8.Breaks / Lunch: Lunch and coffee breaks will be provided each day and are included in the registration fee (please advise of any food allergies, etc.). Parking: Parking is available at no cost in designated areas. Deadline: Registration forms and payment must be received by June 18, 2010.
