Welcome to 2023-24 School Year - Letter to Families

August 29, 2023

Dear families of learners receiving services from APSEA,

Here we are in the last days of August, and I hope you had a wonderful summer. On behalf of the Atlantic Provinces Special Education Authority (APSEA), I would like to warmly welcome you to the 2023-24 school year. The year ahead is sure to be filled with great learning and achievement and we look forward to supporting your learners.

APSEA staff will continue working collaboratively with families, school teams, and education and community partners. In my June note, I shared that we will be introducing the Responsive Teaching and Learning Model, our newly developed approach to service delivery. It is a student-centered collaborative approach that includes input from all APSEA Support Services, school-based education teams and families to ensure each student is receiving the supports they need at the right time. You will be kept informed of APSEA’s service delivery model as we work as a team to determine each learner’s individual needs and the appropriate supports.

APSEA Programs and Services will continue to provide a mix of in-person and virtual learning opportunities. In-person events will happen regionally giving learners and their families opportunities to come together and connect with others who share common experiences. Stay tuned for communications early in the school year with dates of upcoming events.

It's always hard to say goodbye to summer, but as Educators we get excited to welcome September and the new opportunities it brings. Thank you for your support of APSEA. It’s a privilege to be part of your child’s success. Please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time.
