How to obtain APSEA services for students
who are blind or visually impaired
Contact the Department of Education, Student Services or Student Services Coordinator for the district, in the province in which the student resides and request referral forms. Forms can also be requested from APSEA. When the completed form is returned to the provincial supervisor for students with visual impairments, an assessment date will be scheduled with the referring school principal. An eye report must accompany the referral.
The provincial supervisor should have an opportunity to meet with the student's teacher(s) and parents.Following the assessment, APSEA support and the needs of the student in relation to the visual loss will be discussed.
