Audience: Children aged 4–7 years who are blind or who have low vision in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island
Young learners and their caregivers will learn about orientation and mobility skills for indoor environments. For learners who are already independent travelers inside their own homes, this will be an opportunity to build on these skills in a new environment.
Learners in this program will have opportunities to:
Inspired by the storybooks Travel Tales and The Listening Walk, the morning will include songs, crafting, and collaborative mapping and building activities. There will be opportunities to develop sensory awareness and practice mobility techniques indoors. A walk outside, accompanied by a caregiver, will focus on sensory observations in the environment.
