This session will provide an introduction to Saint Mary’s University (SMU) Fred Smithers Student Accessibility Centre and the supports available to students. Families will learn about the process for registering with the Centre, the steps involved in putting academic accommodations in place, and how the Canada Student Grant for Services and Equipment (CSG‑DSE) can help fund disability‑related services and equipment.
In this program, participants will the opportunity to:
- Learn about the process for registering with the Student Accessibility Centre and the supports available to students
- Gain an overview of the Canada Student Grant for Services and Equipment (CSG‑DSE) and how it can help fund disability‑related services and equipment
- Understand the general steps involved in putting academic accommodations in place
- Understand expectations for transitioning from high school to post-secondary
- Ask questions in a supportive, interactive setting
