Hear from Orientation and Mobility Specialists who will provide you tips and tricks to support your child with O&M at home and in the community during the summer and throughout their school year.
Orientation and Mobility (O&M) skills help children who are blind or have low vision move safely, confidently, and independently. Families play a key role in reinforcing these skills every day.
Among other “tricks”, Parents & Caregivers in this program will have opportunities to:
- Learn and build spatial awareness at home (confident exploration through consistent room layouts).
- Practice your existing common routes together with intention at different times of the day using landmarks.
- Ask questions of O&M Specialists; skills, techniques and/or concerns.
Facilitators: Christine Arsenault, lead Orientation and Mobility Specialist Atlantic-Wide and Erin Warden, Orientation and Mobility Specialist PEI and NL.
