Transition to the Workforce

This two session virtual learning series supports parents, caregivers, and school teams in helping learners who are Deaf or hard of hearing (DHH) prepare for employment, independent living, and life beyond school.

Building on the Workforce Readiness and Independent Living guides, the series explores how monthly, self-paced activities, resources, and portfolio artifacts can be connected to meaningful, real-life experiences. Participants will learn practical ways to support learners in developing essential skills, exploring future pathways, making informed decisions, and working toward greater independence.

Through two focused sessions, participants will explore strategies for turning learning into everyday practice at home, at school, and in the community. The series emphasizes accessible support, communication, self-advocacy, and opportunities for learners to practice skills, build confidence, and take increasing ownership of their futures.

Learners in this program you will have opportunities to:

  • Explore the Workforce Readiness and Independent Living guides and the skills they support.
  • Learn how to connect monthly activities and portfolio artifacts to real-life employment and independent living experiences.
  • Discover practical strategies to support communication, self-advocacy, decision-making, and independence.
  • Identify meaningful ways to help learners practice skills at home, at school, and in the community as they prepare for life after high school.
