My Journey, My Voice: Exploring Identity and Experiences

Are you hard of hearing and looking for a chance to connect with others who get you? This is it! Let's explore what it means to be Deaf, hard of hearing, or somewhere in between. We'll chat about your hearing journey, share tips, and build confidence together.

This fun group is all about you! We'll talk about what matters to you, from communication styles to device use, to fitting in. Get ready to learn and make a new community of friends!

In this program, learners will have opportunities to:

  • Share experiences with peers and a Mentor with lived experience
  • Discuss their hearing status and device use
  • Learn about auditory fatigue and challenging listening environments
  • Explore their unique identity

Grades/Age Level: Grades 4–7 & Grades 8–12
Language: English with ASL interpretation available
Program Length: 7 weeks

  • Chrissy MacNeil, Education Support Specialist- Deaf/Hard of Hearing Mentor (ESS-Deaf/DHH Mentor)
  • Shelena Marsh, Education Support Teacher- Social Emotional Learning (EST-SEL)

Grades 4–7
Mondays, January 12, 19 & 26; February 2, 9 & 23
1:00–2:00 p.m. (AST) / 1:30–2:30 p.m. (NST)

Grades 8–12
Mondays, January 12, 19 & 26; February 2, 9 & 23
10:45–11:30 a.m. (AST) / 11:15–12:00 p.m. (NST)

Registration

Online learning programs for children and youth are designed for students who qualify for APSEA services and registration must be completed by the student's APSEA Educational Support Teacher (EST) / itinerant teacher.
