Exploring Identity and Experiences

Inviting all middle school hard of hearing learners to join our community and connect with others who understand your experience. Let's talk about your hearing journey, share tips, and build confidence together.

This program is all about you. We'll discuss what matters most to you, from communication styles to device use and self-identity. Get ready to learn and meet new people. 

In this program you will have opportunities to:

  • Share experiences with peers and a Mentor who understand your journey.
  • Discuss your hearing status and device use.
  • Learn about auditory fatigue and challenging listening environments.
  • Explore your unique identity and place in the Deaf and hard of hearing community.

Audience: Grades 6 to 8
Language: English with ASL translation available, ASL with English translation available
Facilitators: Chrissy MacNeil, Education Support Specialist - Deaf Hard of Hearing Mentor (ESS-DHH Mentor), Shelena Marsh, Education Support Teacher- Social Emotional Learning (EST – SEL)
Program Length: 5 weeks

Registration

Online learning programs are for students who qualify for APSEA services. Registration must be completed by their APSEA Education Support Teacher (EST).
